As a teacher, MLK is one of my favorite people to teach about. It is a chance to offer children the legacy of peace, equality and hope. I got the opportunity to be with my family today. For mother's day last year my children bought me a kit to make stepping stones. We cracked into the box and they each made one today. I am reminded that what my children want, what they ask for, is my time and attention. They love their zhu zhus and webkinz. But what they want and need is time.
My darlings have someone to tuck them in and say prayers with them. They are greeted each day after school with a smile and a snack and help with their homework when they need it.
I ask you to join me in praying for the children around the world who go to bed hungry, the children who mourn their parents, the children who are unclaimed. Everyone deserves to be loved.
As we get ready to go to Uganda, please keep God Cares School and our family in your prayers. We want to help the amazing teachers there to impact their school, their country and in turn the futures of all of their students.
